College Success FairEach group will have a booth with a topic related to a scene in today’s reading from Make Your Home Among Strangers, such as internships, lab work, meeting with professors, or study groups.
Every group will create digital signage for their booth and have an interactive component that introduces visitors to the concepts you would like to emphasize. Groups will also analyze at least one quotation from the novel, addressing an aspect of their focus. You should discuss why the quotation matters in relation to the novel as a whole and what we can learn from it. All group members must have a role. You can divide up the tasks, having different members design the sign, the interactive component for visitors, and analyzing the quotation. We will take turns visiting each other’s booths. Please use our google doc to share your analysis of a quotation, description of members’ roles, and images of the digital signage and interactive component. Analyzing NYIT AdvertisementsWorking in small groups, select at least one NYIT advertisement here and discuss how it makes visual arguments and the significance of the arguments it makes. As you do so, pair your commercial with a frame from Understanding Rhetoric. After 15-20 minutes you will introduce the class to the arguments that your commercial makes and the connection you made to Understanding Rhetoric.
